Kingsoft
Kingsoft is a Chinese software company with product research and development centers in Beijing, Chengdu, Dalian, and Zhuhai. The company has a history of focusing on the development of the Internet and applications for Microsoft Windows. Established in 1988, Kingsoft is one of China's pioneering technology companies, famous for its Windows-based office applications, anti-virus applications, dictionaries, etc. After nearly 30 years of operation, Kingsoft today is considered by many investors to be worth up to 2 billion USD. They also created an independent internet mobile apps development arm called Cheetah Mobile, which has worked on security software products, most recently redirecting to internet-based applications, such as Kingsoft Kuaipan (a free cross-platform cloud storage application).
Kingsoft was founded by JinShan, a company based in Hong Kong. Jinshan is a personal computer manufacturer by IBM and was founded in 1973. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, Kingsoft researched and developed text editors and other office applications, such as their flagship product, Word Processing System 1.0, released in 1989. Right now its latest version is called WPS Office 2016 which is an office suite that includes WPS Writer, WPS Presentation and WPS Spreadsheets. Kingsoft has established cooperative relationships with Dell, Intel and IBM. The company began to encroach into the online game segment in 1996, through the establishment of SEASUN studio, and 3 game research and development centers in Beijing, Zhuhai (Guangdong) and Chengdu (Sichuan). Kingsoft quickly achieved much success, gradually becoming one of the pioneer names of the Chinese game industry, especially in the field of swordplay-themed games.
