Kodaikanal International School
Kodaikanal International School (KIS) is a distinctive institution with a history spanning over a century. They prioritize student education and consistently seek improvement, emphasizing a strong sense of community and a shared vision.
Established in 1901 as a boarding school for missionary children in South India, KIS has achieved notable milestones. They were the first school in India and the third in Asia to adopt the International Baccalaureate Diploma program in 1976.
In 1994, KIS also became the first Indian school to have a separate campus dedicated to camping and outdoor activities. Their programs aim to provide a well-rounded education that caters to students' interests, strengths, and academic needs.
KIS students consistently exceed global average scores in the IB Diploma and SAT exams. Every KIS student applying to universities worldwide is admitted. Upon graduation, students receive a KIS High School Diploma and can pursue an IB Diploma and/or IB certification.
Students at KIS have numerous opportunities for international experiences, including Model United Nations, interdisciplinary exchanges, conferences, and competitions, both in India and abroad.
Teachers at KIS play a facilitative role, supporting and guiding students instead of dictating their learning. They understand each student's progress and create engaging spaces that encourage interaction. Students are encouraged to express their thoughts and learn from their peers.
