Lake Umm al-Maa
Lake Umm al-Maa is likened to the source of water, the most beautiful lake in Libya. With its name meaning “mother of water”, this lake reminds of the importance and preciousness of water in the desert. It is one of the few remaining lakes on this barren land but little known. Some photographers have captured the beauty of the lake at sunset, describing the lake as a bright pearl in the desert. It's really hard to believe that there is such a heart-fluttering lake in a place where it's difficult to even survive.
Visitors can travel by specialized vehicle about 11km to the lake, participate in some interesting activities such as camping, experience being a local here when finding fire by themselves, preparing food and so on. There have been quiet, a few new discoveries about the creatures living in this lake as well as the explanation of why the lake can survive in such difficult weather conditions. Come experience for yourself and give yourself the answers to these questions.
