Lotus of Siam
Lotus of Siam was praised by food bloggers and journalists, and Gourmet magazine named it the greatest Thai restaurant in the United States. In an otherwise uninspiring strip mall, it's undoubtedly a rare and unexpected delight. On a first visit, Saipin Chutima oversees a massive menu (and an equally amazing wine list), which might be a touch daunting. Try the nam kao tod, crispy rice with sour pork sausage, cilantro, chili, and lime, and don't miss the nam kao tod, crispy rice with sour pork sausage, cilantro, chili, and lime.
In the Las Vegas region, Lotus of Siam has two sites. The original Lotus of Siam site is located off Sahara Ave, just east of the Las Vegas Strip, in an unremarkable strip mall. The old site was extensively damaged after rainfall in September 2017, forcing the roof to partially collapse. Only a few months later, a second store on Flamingo Road, just to the south, opened. Fortunately, the taste and texture of the dish did not alter. The new facility has a lovely and modern décor that was considerably larger and open than the old one. With colorful walls and paintings, the inside felt warm and private while still inviting and open. The dining area was made to feel expansive by the high ceilings, white tablecloths, and light purple walls.
