Every year, the capital of Spain hosts the most important European events. According to American Express's forecast, Madrid will also be the most preferred European city for international meetings and events in 2023. The projection is based on estimates from over 600 industry entities from 23 countries.

The city's vast conference halls attract multinational enterprises. IFEMA, which organizes more than 500 fairs and conferences at Feria de Madrid each year, provides more than 2 million square feet of exhibition space, including two convention halls. In the ancient heart of Spain, personal gatherings and smaller meetings are famous beyond the crowded conference floors. Private guided tours and social activities take place in the Golden Triangle of Art, which runs along the tree-lined Paseo del Prado. The neighborhood is centered by three world-renowned stars of the city's more than 40 museums: the Museo del Prado, the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, and the Museo Nazionale Centro d'Arte Reina Sofia.

Among the scores of new and renovated meeting and incentive hotels, the four-star 302-room Hotel InterContinental Madrid has refurbished 24,370 square feet of event space, including a 6,100-square-foot ballroom and a breezy terrace for parties of up to 150 people. In 2014 and 2015, World Travel Awards awarded the InterContinental Spain as the Leading Business Hotel.
