Mastering Software Defined Networking (SDN)
This is your first day in this class. OpenStack Networking is one of the cornerstones of the project, and it is built to promote programmability and Software-Defined Networks. Software-defined networking is a network management strategy that allows for dynamic, programmatically efficient network design to increase network performance and monitoring, making it more like cloud computing than traditional network administration. OpenStack networking has progressed from Quantum's simple APIs and functionality to Neutron's more advanced capabilities. SDN allows software applications to program network behavior in a centrally controlled way utilizing open APIs.
Operators may manage the whole network and its devices uniformly regardless of the complexity of the underlying network technology by opening up formerly closed network platforms and creating a standard SDN control layer. This course will provide you a broad understanding of OpenStack networking and SDN. Following that, a series of lectures on OpenDaylight (ODL), OpenContrail, and their interaction with OpenStack Networking are given. The Open Network Operating System (ONOS), which is quickly becoming a carrier-grade SDN platform, is then introduced.
