Melon (멜론)
Melon (Korean: 멜론; RR: Mellon) is a South Korean online music store and streaming service that was launched in November 2004. SK Telecom, South Korea's largest wireless carrier, created it. In its first few months, it garnered more than 10,000 subscribers per day on average, surpassing 310,000. In 2009, LOEN Entertainment (later Kakao M and eventually Kakao Entertainment) took over as the service's operator. Kakao combined Kakao Music into Melon in 2017 to create a unified music streaming service.
Melon has over 28 million customers and is South Korea's largest music subscription service. Melon is South Korea's most popular music streaming service.
