Michael Jackson - Bad
Top 10 in Top 10 Best-selling Albums of All Time
Bad was released in 1987, at a period when rock was on the decline and Pop and R&B were gaining popularity. Michael Jackson successfully fused all of them, as well as his signature Funk sound. It was backed up by a steady stream of nine singles over the course of two years, starting with "I Just Can't Stop Loving You." When there are just 11 overall tracks, nine singles is a lot. This CD is devoid of filler!
Bad was dubbed the most anticipated album in history at the time, and possibly still is. For the first time since 1972, the Jackson 5 were on the road together. They broke the record by selling out Wembley Stadium for seven nights in a row. Three Guinness World Records were set during the trip.
On the Billboard Top Pop Albums and Billboard 200 charts, Bad debuted at number one. It was marketed in conjunction with Michael Jackson's film Moonwalker. It was nominated for six Grammy Awards and won a few of them, as well as the Billboard Music Award for Album of the Year. Michael and Prince were supposed to sing "Bad" together.
