Midway Or The Highway Comedy Night
One of the best alternative comedy spots in Boston is Midway or The Highway Comedy Night. The Midway is a cozy neighborhood club with weekly DJ nights, an epic gay-themed event on Thursdays, and a dangerously eclectic mix of bands from Boston and beyond. Did they mention that a 16-ounce bottle of "Gansett" costs $3? Even though it's not legally LGBT, local queer people enjoy frequenting this little, loud, divey rock pub in Jamaica Plain. The pounding dance floor and postage stamp stage are taken over by a raucous, noisy crowd every Thursday for Queeraoke.
Comedians-in-residence, aka the audience, perform at this hip neighborhood bar every Sunday, and you'll laugh yourself silly. The Midway Cafe's comedy open mic is presented by Angela Sawyer of Roslindale Comedy/Rozzie Theater fame and is recognized as one of the city's oldest LGBTQ-friendly venues. There is no cover fee, but the Midway only accepts cash and is for adults over 21.
