Mocamedes
Mocamedes is a coastal desert city in Angola located in the province of Namibe in the Southern part of the country. Founded in 1840 by the Portuguese colonial administration, the city was named Namibe between 1985 and 2016. Moçâmedes has a cool dry climate and desert vegetation because it is near the Namib Desert. The city's Sé Catedral de São Pedro is the cathedral episcopal see of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Namibe, which was established in 2009 on territory split from its Metropolitan's Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lubango, to which it is a suffragan diocese.
Mocamedes is arguably Angola’s best beach for relaxing in the daytime, thanks to its slightly more secluded position on the south coast of Sentosa. This crescent-shaped hideout has shallow warm waters, fine white sand, and tropical palm trees – all the essential ingredients to make for a perfect beach and help you forget it’s not actually natural. This beautiful sea paradise is a famous port city, which is dotted with basilicas, ancient buildings and forts, palaces, and synagogues. Being home to numerous beaches, such as Fort Kochi Beach, Veeranpuzha Beach, Cherai Beach, and many more, Mocamedes makes for an interesting spot to indulge in various water sports.
