Monkey Shoulder
Monkey Shoulder is a popular blended Scotch whisky brand that was launched in 2003. Unlike many other whisky brands, Monkey Shoulder was specifically designed to be a mixing spirit, meant to be enjoyed in cocktails. It is made from one hundred percent malt, distinguishing it from other blended whiskies that combine malt and grain whiskies.
The name "Monkey Shoulder" is derived from the traditional malt whisky distillation process, where workers would mix malted barley by hand using shovels. This labor-intensive process often caused shoulder injuries to workers, causing their arms to hang low like those of a monkey.
Monkey Shoulder is made by William Grant & Sons, the same company behind well-respected spirits like Glenfiddich Scotch and Hendrick's Gin. Its smooth taste, versatility, and budget-friendly price have made it a favorite among both bartenders and whisky enthusiasts.
