Namavali Ganesh Mantras

There are various names for Lord Ganesha. Each of his names represents a quality or meaning related to him.


i. ॐ गणध्याक्षय नमः।

“Om Ganadhyakhsaya Namah”


Meaning: Ganadhyaksay – Gana means ‘a group’, and ‘Adhyaksh’ means ‘one who is the leader of the group.’

Benefit: This Mantra can be used to assure the well-being of a specific state or city. This Mantra can also be used to promote or strengthen one's personal leadership qualities.


ii. “Om Gajananaya Namah”

ॐ गजाननाय नमः।
Aum Gajānanāya Namaḥ


Meaning: Gajanan here means One who carries the elephant head. In Sanskrit, gaj means elephant. This Mantra says that if God can carry the elephant’s head to survive and fulfill his duties, even we should put aside our egos and live our lives dutifully.

Benefit: Chanting this mantra helps one achieve inner serenity and consciousness and inspires such modest living.


iii. ”Om Vignanaashnay Namah”

ॐ विघ्ननाशाय नमः।


Meaning: Ganpati is also worshiped to remove obstacles from one’s life. Here vigna means obstacles and nashnay means One who removes obstacles.

Benefit: If one is having difficulties in his social life, at work, or in interpersonal connections, chanting this mantra can help.

iv. “Om Lambodaraya Namah”
ॐ लम्बोदराय नमः।


Meaning: Ganesha is known to love his food and has a big, round belly. ‘Lambodar’ thus refers to him as a God with a big belly.

Benefit: By repeating this mantra, one can love and unite with the universe, just like Lord Ganpati.

v. “Om Sumukhaya Namah”
ॐ सुमुखाय नमः।


Meaning: Sumukh means ‘One with a pleasing face.’ Lord Ganesha lost his head and replaced it with that of an elephant. However, his good spirit and pure soul shone through even on his elephant face, and this made him look beautiful and calm.

Benefit: This Mantra enables one to see past one's flaws and find and improve on one's inner beauty.

vi. “Om Gajkarnikaya Namah”
ॐ गजकर्णकाय नमः।


Meaning: Gaj means Elephant, and Karnikay means ears. With the elephant’s head and elephant ears, Ganesh was unable to listen to everything from all sources.

Benefit: With the help of this mantra, we may emulate him and only hear and accept what is positive. The mantra helps us deal with the tension that external negativity causes by protecting us from it.

vii. “Om Vikataya Namah”

ॐ विकटाय नमः।


Meaning: Here, ‘Vikat’ means ‘difficult’.

Benefit: The world is full of challenging situations, and it is common to become disappointed and unable to concentrate. This Mantra reminds him that his ultimate objective is salvation, and he should not lose sight of it no matter what occurs. This Ganpati Mantra would focus his attention on the long-term aim and drive him to salvation.

viii. ”Om Vinayakaya Namah”
ॐ विनायकाय नमः।


Meaning: ‘Vinayaka’ is the name of Ganesha in the golden age. Vinayaka means ‘something under control’ and ‘the Lord of resolving problems.

Benefit: Regular recitation of this mantra must rank among the healthiest routines, given its positive effects on both personal and professional achievement. One will soon take charge of their own life and office, never having to report to a superior.
