New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc (NB), also known as New Balance, is an American shoe manufacturing company based in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. The company was founded in 1906 as "New Balance Arch Support Company" and is one of the world's major sports footwear manufacturers.

New Balance maintains a manufacturing plant in the US, as well as in the UK – for the European markets, where they manufacture some popular product codes such as 990. As a result, New Balance shoes tend to be more expensive than those from many other manufacturers. To offset this price difference, New Balance claims to differentiate its products with technical features, such as blended gel inserts, heel counters and a large selection of sizes, especially for very narrow and/or very wide width. The company has grossed about $40 billion in profits since 1991.
