New Orleans, Louisiana
New Years Eve, along with Mardi Gras, is one of the greatest celebrations in New Orleans. They do things a little differently here. Sure, there are still amusing hats and noisemakers to be found, but there are also some one-of-a-kind experiences to be enjoyed.
Jackson Square hosts the greatest party in town, complete with live music all night and a spectacular fireworks show. Instead of a traditional ball drop at midnight, a massive fleur de lis drops from a 25-foot pole atop a structure, and fireworks light up the sky in time with the music. The party continues on Bourbon Street, where the parties and clubs go all out into the early hours of the morning. Alternatively, for a more relaxed New Year's Eve party, visit one of the fantastic restaurants or live music venues.
