New Year’s Day Parade

London's New Year's Day Parade, which is a fantastic way to start the new year, should be at the top of the list of the Best Festivals in London. The first parade took place in 1987, and it is currently the largest street event on New Year's Day, drawing close to a million spectators. The procession travels two miles (3.2 km) across west London, beginning at the Ritz Hotel and ending in Parliament Square.

What will you see in the procession then? Performers from throughout the world take part, and all 32 of London's boroughs are urged to submit an act. Even though every year is unique, you can count on seeing dancing and marching bands. It's surely a fantastic way to start the year with some fun, provided you aren't too exhausted from the countdown to the new year the night before.

At the beginning of each year, the city of London unites to participate in the Day Parade. Since its inception about 30 years ago, the parade has grown to become one of the biggest occasions of its sort. Millions of people attend the procession, which starts in Parliament Square and ends in Green Park after passing through Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly, and other locations. Along with raising money for many organizations in London, the parade features marching bands from other international cities.
