Nieuw Nickerie

This bustling border town was previously a major balata collection center for the country. The port is still operational today, and the local economy is supported by banana and rice farms. Nieuw Nickerie is the penultimate stop before Guyana if you want to visit Bigi Pan, a marsh and reservoir with over 100 bird species.
