Overuse of Flip Flops Can Cause Orthopedic Issues

Flip flops are the unofficial footwear of hot weather, and you can't swing a cat in the summer without striking someone who is sporting them. The health of your feet cannot be overlooked, and flip flops are hardly orthopedic shoes, despite the fact that they are ideal for walking about poolside or on a beach to escape the hot sand. You might regret wearing flip flops too frequently.

Flip flops provide no arch support at all. Your heels take a battering because it doesn't absorb much power as you walk, and there is never any ankle support like you would find in a typical shoe. In essence, it is similar to walking barefoot. Again, that's good in moderation, but over time, it can lead to problems. It worsens, though.

Instead of just being barefoot, you're also inviting blisters from the possible abrasive sole, the thong in between your toes, and a fungus-friendly environment. Therefore, it is worse than going barefoot. According to studies, persons who wear flip flops adjust their gait to fit how the flip flops fit. Not only can this cause foot pain, but also hip and lower back pain.
