The Palace of Sheki Khans became a house for the Sheki Khans and was constructed in 1797 by Muhammed Hasan Khan. The Sheki Khans managed the town of Sheki as governors of the Zand and Qajar Persian dynasties till their annexation by the Russian Empire in 1813.
The Sheki Khan’s Palace is a two-tale shape blanketed with a wood, hipped roof with lengthy eaves. The façade is blanketed by a mosaic of colored glass set in wood lattice paintings that became assembled without nails or glue. Inside, the palace’s square rooms are lavishly adorned with gold, replicated fragments, and floral tiles and mosaics.
The palace is the principal ancient site in Sheki and in 2019 has become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Following the recovery of paintings, the palace is in true condition. There is an English talking manual to assist traffic excursions on the small site, even though taking photos isn't allowed inside.
