Palos Verdes
Did you know that the Palos Verdes Peninsula served as the backdrop for various sequences in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean? Palos Verdes, one of the best scenic drives in L.A., is a veritable treasure trove of breathtakingly beautiful natural settings, with breath-taking vistas at every turn. The vistas may be seen all the way to Malibu and Catalina Island on a clear day. The excellent golf courses along the way will persuade you if you ever needed a reason to travel to Palos Verdes. The golf courses in Palos Verdes are regarded as some of the greatest in the world. One of the best is Terranea, which has an outstanding resort even if you aren't a golfer and a gorgeous beachside golf course.
There are many places to stop and take in the scenery, particularly at the several beaches along the coast. In addition to having some of the nicest views, the Point Vicente Lighthouse, perched on a 130-foot cliff, is one of the best places to witness whales from December to March.
