PortAventura
PortAventura is a theme park and resort located in Salou, Tarragona, Spain, on the Costa Dorada. It receives over 4 million people each year, making it Spain's most visited theme park. PortAventura Park is also Europe's sixth most visited theme park. The Costa Caribe Aquatic Park and four hotels are also part of the resort. It is the largest resort in southern Europe. It is about 30 minutes away from two airports, one of which being Reus Airport. PortAventura features a train station with links to Barcelona and Salou.
The park has five civilization-themed theme zones (Mediterrània, Far West, México, China, and Polynesia) and one Sesame Street-themed theme area, which debuted for the park's 2011 season. The park's main entrance is called Mediterrània. There are three rides, but there are also various restaurants and stores that recreate a traditional Catalan seaside village. The Polynesian region differs from the other attractions in the park in that it is a more relaxed area with less exciting rides. Two performances and a few attractions may be found in Polynesia. One of the smaller themed regions is Polynesia.
This area, themed after the Sesame Street characters, is geared for the park's youngest guests. It opened for the 2011 season and was constructed between China and Polynesia in old Polynesia grounds, retaining some of its features. The investment was around €12 million. PortAventura, the only theme park in Europe, joined Universal Studios Japan and Busch Gardens with a Sesame Street area.
