Ports and Connections - MacBook Pro vs Mac Studio
One of the key differences between the MacBook Pro and Mac Studio is the number and type of ports and connections available. The MacBook Pro is a portable laptop with a more limited selection of ports. The Mac Studio, on the other hand, is a desktop computer, so it has a more comprehensive set of ports and connections.
On the front of the Mac Studio, there are two USB-C ports. These ports can connect to external storage devices, such as hard drives and SSDs, or charge devices, such as an iPad or a rechargeable keyboard, mouse, or trackpad.
On Mac Studio models with the M1 Ultra chip, these ports are Thunderbolt 4, so you can transfer data at Thunderbolt speeds (up to 40 Gbit/s) with a Thunderbolt cable (sold separately) or connect an external display. On the back of the Mac Studio are four Thunderbolt 4 ports, one HDMI port, two USB Type-A ports (5Gbps), one 10Gbps Ethernet port, and one 3.5mm headphone jack.
The MacBook Pro has a more limited selection of ports and connections than the Mac Studio. On the left side of the MacBook Pro are two Thunderbolt 4 ports, which can be used to connect to external displays, storage devices, and other peripherals. You can also charge your laptop with a USB-C power adapter and cable. On the right side of the MacBook Pro, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The main difference between the Mac Studio and MacBook Pro regarding ports and connections is that the Mac Studio has a broader range of ports, including more Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB Type-A ports, and an HDMI port. This makes the Mac Studio more versatile for connecting to external displays, storage devices, and other peripherals.
