Purana Mantra on Vishnu

ॐ अपवित्रः पवित्रो वा सर्वावस्थां गतोऽपि वा ।

यः स्मरेत्पुण्डरीकाक्षं स बाह्याभ्यन्तरः शुचिः ॥

Om Apavitrah Pavitro Vaa Sarva-Avasthaam Gato-[A]pi Vaa |

Yah Smaret-Punnddariikaakssam Sa Baahya-Abhyantarah Shucih ||


Meaning:

The translation of mantra states, Om, if one is Apavitra (Impure) or Pavitra (Pure), or even in all other conditions, one who remembers Pundarikaksha (Vishnu), shall be Pure outwardly as well as inwardly.


One of the primary mantras of Vishnu, this Vishnu mantra may be found in many Puranas. While sin and dharma are judged by society, this mantra's main goal is to save one from sins. It also aims to free individuals from emotional bonds that imprison them and bring them sorrow in their lives.
