Rafting on the Martha Brae River
Rafting on the Martha Brae River is one of the most popular things to do in Jamaica. At Martha Brae Rafter's Village, you can glide down a picturesque stretch of river on bamboo rafts organized by local guides. This relaxing ride is a great way to soak up some tropical scenery, and several guides will entertain you along the way, singing or sharing information about the flora and fauna.
The river is named after Martha Brae, a slave who owned the land on which the river rested. The beautiful river makes your self-rafting experience very relaxing. You can raft the Martha Brae River in Jamaica alone or with a tour group. The river is about 3 miles long and takes about 2 hours to raft. It has a tropical and misty setting, and you can stop by the local vendors for refreshing drinks or souvenirs. In addition, you will be entertained for free during your trip, where you share interesting information and sing reggae songs. This was such a wonderful experience. Going down the Martha Brae River on a bamboo raft with a wonderfully knowledgeable guide who explains all the different plants and vegetation. So relaxing and just breathtaking. Highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to get off the resort and see the real Jamaica.
