Red Velvet
Red Velvet is a South Korean girl group under SM Entertainment. The group debuted on August 1, 2014, with the song "Happiness" with 4 members: Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Joy. Irene, Seulgi, and Wendy are known to be members of S.M.Rookies. After that, Joy joined and all 4 debuted under the name "Red Velvet". Then, on March 10, 2015, the 5th member Yeri joined the group and Red Velvet made a comeback with "Ice Cream Cake". Yeri is also a member of S.M.Rookies.
The group name "Red Velvet" has its color for the 5 girls. According to the SM company, “Red” means that color – a color that is both captivating and striking. “Velvet” is velvet fabric – a material that feels light and soft. Red Velvet's lightstick is affectionately called Mandu Bong. This lightstick is inspired by cupcakes with a very unique light orange color. Red Velvet is constantly changing and experimenting with different concepts in a new and more unique direction. However, not all changes are effective. Products like RBB and Zimzalabim are the best example of the rather bold direction the company has taken for girls.
Over all of their music videos, Red Velvet has an average of 1.17 million likes per music video! They also have a total of 46.6 million likes on all of their MVs combined, and their most-liked music video is “Psycho” with 5.81 million likes.
