Rickshaws Pousada e Café
The Rickshaw serves as more than simply a logo for an island café and guest accommodation. On the muddy lanes of Mozambique Island, rickshaws were previously extremely ubiquitous. Rickshaws were commonly used to convey nobles and local authorities from one location to another. These Rickshaws were fairly widespread during a period in Mozambique's history that is remembered by some as a period of immense prosperity.
Many in the community, however, recall this wealth as the darkest days of injustice and persecution. Rickshaws Pousada e Café was founded to help local young people redeem part of their history by providing meaningful job, mentorship in business, economics, and work ethic, casting a vision for the future, and encouraging young people to lead as powerful and sacrificial leaders within the community.
Rickshaws menu has something for everyone, because of their enthusiasm for delicious cuisine that represents local culture as well as a love of comforting classics. The flavor of local grilled fish, spicy grilled Calamari, Mussels (Jaça) in a savory red sauce, Xima, and Garlic tomato sauce combine in this fresh from the sea Prato Nahará. Fresh lobster meat from the area, prepared with care and presented with a delicious butter and white wine sauce. Served with a heaping helping of coconut rice.
Especially, you can relax on their spacious patio with sunset views and ice-cold beverages, or warm up by the fire with a cup of Café Makua: double espresso, coconut milk, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and toasted coconut.
