Rock Island State Park
Rock Island State Park ranks 6th on the list of the best day trips from Tennessee. The 883-acre Rock Island State Park in Warren and White Counties is a charming state park next to the Collins River, the Great Falls Dam, and the Caney Work waterway. The peninsula formed by the meeting of the two bodies of water is where the Rock Island town and land mass, in honor of which the park is named, are situated.
The Great Falls Gorge, which is home to a number of cascading waterfalls and plunges, including the magnificent Twin Falls, is one of the park's iconic natural wonders. The 1892-built historic Great Falls Cotton Mill is a National Register of Historic Places listing. The Bosson Mill and the Spring Castle from the 1890s are further attractions. All throughout the year, visitors can take advantage of fantastic fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, and birding opportunities or stay the night at one of the park's charming campsites or rental cabins.
