Rome Cavalieri

The resort's remote position offers certain benefits. The views from this hilltop perch are spectacular, spanning the entire Eternal City. There are also three pools, two tennis courts, forested woodlands, groomed gardens, and al fresco dining on the hotel's 15 acres of grounds. Cavalieri's harsh 1960s design is softened by lush gardens and luxurious interiors centered on great art and antiques. The three exquisites Tiepolos in the main entrance are a special source of pride, but the entire property is dotted with over 1,000 ancient tapestries, paintings, sculpture, and furniture. Since its inception, this hotel has served as a meeting point for the worldwide haute monde and has kept committed to its trademark sumptuous aesthetic.

What the resort lacks in location, it more than makes up for in service and facilities, which are sometimes tiered to provide varying levels of pleasure. All guests may benefit from the concierge staff's competence and knowledge, but those who book a suite can take advantage of Rome Cavalieri's selected Suite Experiences, which range from private culinary or Vatican Garden excursions to a sandal-making class with a local artisan. The massive Grand Spa Club, regarded as one of the greatest in Italy and offering La Prairie and Aromatherapy Associates products, is open to the public for €20.

A private beauty or wellness treatment in one of the spa's eight themed chromotherapy treatment rooms, or a session with a yoga, pilates, or fitness trainer in the spa studio, is the de rigueur extravagance for every client. Otherwise, take use of the outdoor pool and exercise center. The large but somewhat unimaginative décor of the guest rooms may leave aficionados of cutting-edge design cold, but Rome Cavalieri lays all its chips on pampering visitors with the details, and it pays off. A pleasant sleep is ensured with double doors and plush carpeting to provide ideal soundproofing, as well as an extensive pillow choice and feather mattress toppers. All rooms include separate living spaces as well as individual balconies with views of the gardens or Rome.

La Pergola, Rome Cavalieri's only three-Michelin-starred restaurant, is located here. It's on the top floor and is managed by famed chef Heinz Beck, who offers foie gras with chestnuts and figs, hare tortellini, and Saint Peter's fish in a liquorice crust. As a result, the resort should receive high rankings for eating. Unfortunately, this haute cuisine temple has limited seating and a months-long waiting list.
