Samsung Motors
Samsung Motors is a South Korean automobile manufacturer and a subsidiary of the Renault Group. It was established in 1994 as a joint venture between Renault and Samsung. The company primarily focuses on producing passenger cars.
Samsung collaborated with the French automaker Renault-Nissan to develop the SM3 Z.E., an electric car model. Initially showcased at the 2011 Seoul Motor Show in South Korea, the SM3 Z.E. is a Samsung-branded variant based on Renault's Fluence Z.E. electric car.
By 2016, the popularity of Samsung's all-electric sedan had grown significantly, with one out of every three electric vehicles (EVs) in South Korea being an SM3 Z.E. This particular model was the sole mid-sized all-electric sedan available in Korea at the time. It received recognition from the South Korean government, which designated it as the official government vehicle. Furthermore, the SM3 Z.E. became the preferred choice for taxis operating in Seoul city.
