SCHOTT AG is a worldwide glass manufacturer based in Germany that specializes in the production of glass and glass-ceramics. The Carl Zeiss Foundation owns the company, which is based in Mainz, Germany. Otto Schott, the company's founder and namesake, is credited with inventing borosilicate glass.

SCHOTT ceramic powder or sintered ceramic elements are typically utilized in the production process for electrical insulation, heat resistance, and corrosion resistance. Metal rings or springs are used to keep them in place. Glass-ceramic can tolerate temperatures of up to 1000°C.
