SciGen

SciGen is one of the largest biotech corporations in Singapore. It specialises in producing, manufacturing, and marketing biotech-derived products stemming from recombinant human proteins. SciGen focuses on the areas of endocrinology, oncology, and immunology. The portfolio of this company consists of biosimilar products like human growth hormone, human insulin, human GCSF, human EPO, as well as human interferon alfa. It also offers a third-generation hepatitis B vaccine. All of SciGen’s products are in the process of securing health registration and have experienced substantial clinical development.

The strategy of SciGen is to focus on biosimilars, or follow-on proteins so as to reduce the risk of early-stage goods development. Therefore, it has established its own research and development centre based in Israel in order to study bacteria (E.coli) and mammalian cell (CHO cell) technology. At SciGen’s R&D centre, the current molecules and other R&D activities are ongoing. Additionally, SciGen also collaborates with strategic partners and other institutions in order to improve its pipeline.

It is apparent that there is an upward trend in the market for SciGen’s portfolio of products. as the global trend of governments and other healthcare organizations are looking to use lower-priced generic and/or biosimilar pharmaceuticals to provide high-quality healthcare.
