Sierra Hot Springs
A 700-acre resort with a focus on spirituality, wellness, and healing is called the Sierra Hot Springs Resort & Retreat Center. It is around four hours from San Francisco and 90 minutes from Lake Tahoe. Accommodations include a sizable lodge structure with rooms and suites as well as a number of camping spaces (no day-use guests or drop-ins are permitted). Another option is the historic The Globe Hotel in Sierraville, which is just a short drive away (under the same ownership). There are additional options for tent, vehicle, and RV camping, but none of them have any form of hookups.
The mineral pools are accessible every hour of the day. The Temple Dome is a large geodesic dome that houses two cold plunges and a hot pool with a sand floor. A sizable heated pool, a sizable sundeck, and a dry sauna are all outside. The heated meditation pool outside has a sand floor and artificial rock landscaping. The resort is not a clothing-optional establishment in the European sense, but the pools are.
Numerous well-known speakers and practitioners of spirituality and healing provide sessions and lectures at the resort, and there is usually a full schedule of workshops. Due to the property's proximity to the Tahoe National Forest, there are several opportunities for riding and hiking. The resort offers some fantastic skiing in the winter.
