Snapfish
Shutterfly, headquartered in San Francisco, is the parent company of Snapfish, a web-based picture-sharing and printing business. In 1999, Snapfish was established by Rajil Kapoor, Bala Parthasarathy, Suneet Wadhwa, and Shripati Acharya. Soon after, Ben Nelson became the head of corporate development operations and eventually the company's chief financial officer and CEO. In the first month of 2017, Jasbir Patel assumed the role of CEO.
On October 30, 2001, District Photo acquired the service for a price that was not made public. Snapfish's first brick-and-mortar storefront debuted in Alexandria, Virginia, in 2004, but the location has since been closed. Snapfish was acquired by Hewlett-Packard [6] for $300 million the following year, with Nelson serving as CEO, despite the fact that annual revenue for the business was less than $100 million.
As an HP subsidiary, Nelson stayed in charge. Snapfish formed alliances with these retailers at this time. Snapfish discontinued operations in Belgium, India, the Netherlands, and Spain in August 2013, with announcements made on local websites and in member mailings. In April 2015, HP and District Photo came to terms on the resale of Snapfish. HP agreed to let the buyer keep using its printing services as part of the deal.
