Sourasky Medical Center, also known as Ichilov Hospital, is the primary hospital complex servicing Tel Aviv, Israel, and its metropolitan region, as well as the country's second-largest hospital complex.

The complex is 150,000 m2 in size and has four hospitals: Ichilov General Hospital and Ida Sourasky Rehabilitation Center, Lis Maternity Hospital, and Dana Children's Hospital.

Originally, the hospital was named after the Ichilov family. Ichilov Hospital opened in 1963 as a one-story structure built by architect Arieh Sharon. This facility is without a doubt one of the greatest eye hospitals in Asia.

Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center is dedicated to providing medical excellence and compassionate care with the most skilled physicians and medical teams, treating each patient equally, and integrating clinical excellence with academia and research and development for the benefit of Israeli residents and the global population.

The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center's Division of Ophthalmology diagnoses and treats the whole range of ophthalmological treatment, eye illness, and trauma.

Outpatient clinics, inpatient hospitalization treatments, and emergency services are all provided by skilled professionals.
Patients get world-class care for a variety of eye diseases at speciality ophthalmology clinics, including:

  • Retina and vitreous humor conditions
  • Cataracts
  • Pediatric eye diseases and strabismus
  • Corneal and anterior chamber disorders
  • Glaucoma
  • Neuro-ophthalmologic disorders
  • Oculoplastic and orbital conditions
  • Inflammatory eye conditions

The imaging clinic provides a variety of specialist diagnostic and testing services, such as:

  • OCT (optical coherence tomography) is used to produce detailed pictures of the retina.
  • Ultrasound of the eye to assess the eye region, measure size and structure, and discover retinal diseases and other issues that are not detectable through standard checks.
  • Glaucoma, central or peripheral retinal illness, eyelid problems, and optic nerve disease are all detected via visual field testing.
  • An eye angiography is used to assess blood flow via the arteries at the back of the eye.

Pre-operative preparation; surgery; post-surgical follow-up; urgent care for problems requiring rapid treatment, such as eye damage, corneal inflammation, and eye infections; and elective operations, such as retina or glaucoma treatments, are all included in hospitalization services.

Traumatic injuries, serious eye infections, foreign object removal, chemical burns, and abrupt loss of vision are all covered by ophthalmological services that are accessible 24 hours a day. Ophthalmologists also provide medical advice on concerns like as headaches (which may be caused by increased intracranial pressure), vision impairments caused by neurological illnesses, and face injuries, including eye socket bone fractures.
