SpecTrek
SpecTrek is a game that uses augmented reality to look for ghosts. The game came in second place in the leisure category of the "Android Developer Challenge II." SpecTrek was created with the intention of having the player exercise while playing the game; the game's tagline is "defend the world, keep in shape." Short, which lasts 15 minutes, medium, which lasts 30 minutes, and long, which lasts 60 minutes, are the three default games. SpecTrek uses a Google map to project ghosts at various locations within a predefined search radius or a user-defined search radius.
To play, the player must go to these ghosts, and if they are within range, they may scan to see what sort of ghost is there, as well as how far away that ghost is from their present location. If the user is unable to communicate with a ghost, a horn may be sounded, causing all local ghosts to run and perhaps come to a halt within reach of another accessible place. By tilting their phone to the "camera-position," the user captures ghosts. The user may scan the ghosts with the camera, view them in augmented reality, and, of course, catch them.
