St George's British International School in Rome, Italy, stands as a beacon of educational excellence, fostering a global community since its establishment in 1958. The school, originally named The English School, was founded as an independent, not-for-profit institution to cater to the educational needs of Rome's British, international, and expatriate communities. Over the years, St George's has evolved into a prestigious institution, currently educating more than 930 children from over 95 countries.

The main campus, situated in La Storta on the northern outskirts of Rome, houses both Junior and Senior Schools. Additionally, a second campus in central Rome serves Junior School students up to the age of 11, emphasizing accessibility for families residing in different parts of the city. St George's commitment to academic excellence is underscored by its consistent ranking as one of the top 125 private schools globally, a recognition received for four consecutive years in the Carfax ranking.

With a rich history dating back to its founding in 1958, the school has undergone significant developments. Originally located on Via Salaria, the institution moved to its current premises in 1968. In 2002, a second campus was established in the Nomentana neighborhood, and in 2017, the City Centre campus relocated to a purpose-fitted space near the Vatican in the Aurelio neighborhood.

Academically, St George's follows an enhanced version of the National Curriculum for England, culminating in IGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11. The Sixth Form offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, with the school consistently achieving impressive results, including an average IB Diploma score of 35 points in 2023 – a testament to the high academic standards maintained.

The school's commitment to inclusivity is reflected in its non-academically selective admissions policy, prioritizing families relocating from outside of Italy. St George's boasts an extensive Additional Educational Needs Department, providing crucial support to students with individual learning requirements.

Beyond academics, St George's offers a vibrant co-curricular program, with a particular focus on creative and performing arts. The school's orchestras and choirs frequently showcase their talents to external audiences. In sports, St George's fields multiple teams in various disciplines, fostering a culture of healthy competition and teamwork.

The diverse array of after-school clubs, ranging from Chess and Coding to film-making and astronomy, reflects the school's commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals. With a comprehensive language program, including Italian, French, German, Spanish, Latin, and Mandarin, St George's prepares students for a globally interconnected world.
