St. Patrick's Basilica
The Basilica of St Patrick is a Roman Catholic church in Fremantle, Western Australia, located on Adelaide Street. It is one of only five churches in Australia to be designated as a minor basilica. Around 1850, the parish of St Patrick in Fremantle was established. The parish was assigned to the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate when they arrived in Australia from Ireland in 1894.
They founded their first village here. As part of their commemoration of a century of commitment to the church in Australia, they commissioned the current church as an icon in Fremantle in 1994.
