Starstruck

Jessie's drunken New Year's Eve hook-up gets significantly more difficult when she realizes her one-night partner is actually a movie star; what she thought would be an entertaining narrative quickly evolves into something more. Starstruck is more than simply a pitch-perfect comedy show — though it is one of the series' strongest points. Starstruck, written by Matafeo (also renowned for her stand-up) and Snedden, is the type of narrative that flips the script on the conventional rom-com while maintaining the same amount of warm sensations throughout.

Matafeo plays Jessie, a twenty-something New Zealand ex-pat living in London who is dissatisfied with her life; when she meets famed movie actor Tom Kapoor (Patel), the two are permanently bound on a road that appears forced to keep bringing them together throughout the seasons. Starstruck will definitely deliver on both the rom-com and the rom-com fronts, and thankfully, it has already been renewed for a Season 2.
