Step Into History At The National Underground Rail Road Freedom Center

Cincinnati is home to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. Because the Ohio River used to naturally divide states into "free" and "slave" states, it is specially situated along its banks. States above and below the Ohio River were referred to as "free" and "slave," respectively.

As a result, it was unsurprising that it was one of the greatest crossing locations for slaves trying to flee. The center now offers historical information about the Underground Railroad in Ohio. The site features the accounts of those who assisted enslaved people in escaping to Ohio as well as those who were successful in achieving freedom there. This museum is really moving.

Unfortunately, despite our belief, slavery did not cease in America with the end of the Civil War. Even in America, human trafficking is still an ongoing kind of slavery. You can find exhibitions that highlight and educate visitors about the modern-day slave trade in addition to those that focus on the Underground Railroad.
