Even the hardest nut will cry at the end of this 1995 film starring Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood. The film is based on the 1992 book of the same name, which tells the story of Francesca Johnson, an Italian-immigrant housewife in Iowa in the 1960s who meets and falls in love with a drifter photographer for National Geographic.
Clint Eastwood also directed the picture, and he starred as the dashing mysterious Robert Kincaid from Washington state. Streep has an Italian accent with a tiny Iowan lilt that makes you want to give up on trying anything since she's already nailed it.
