The College Club of Boston
Nineteen women gathered in Boston's Back Bay in 1890 to create their own club, which became known as the College Club of Boston. For educated or professional women at the time, there were few or no opportunities to experience the camaraderie their male counterparts did at the clubs dotting the city. The College Club of Boston still embodies the spirit of the club they envisioned, one where women could interact, exchange ideas, and form friendships.
Each of the hotel's rooms is named after a local college and is individually decorated by a different local designer. The hotel is housed inside a gorgeous Back Bay brownstone. The three singles' shared bathrooms were recently updated, and the double rooms have private bathrooms and decorative fireplaces. Every major Boston attraction, including the Public Gardens, Newbury Street, and the Charles River, is within easy walking distance of the club, which is located at the lower end of the famed Commonwealth Avenue.
