The Great Wall of China, one of the country's most well-known ancient structures, is only an hour's drive from Beijing. You may walk along a spectacular section of the Great Wall dating from the 16th century and standing up to eight meters high here at Badaling Pass, the first section of the Wall to be available to tourists in the 1950s. In 1987, the Great Wall of China was designated a UNESCO World Heritage monument.
Several towers and parapets will be visible along the way, providing great views of the surrounding stunning scenery. While the hike is difficult, you can take a beautiful cable car ride up to the Wall. This popular section of the Great Wall can get crowded, so plan accordingly.
