The Hollywood Roosevelt

In the Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, at 7000 Hollywood Boulevard, there is a historic hotel called the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The oldest continuously operational hotel in Los Angeles, it debuted on May 15, 1927. The hotel, which bears Theodore Roosevelt's name, was constructed in 1926 during what is regarded as the Golden Age of Los Angeles architecture. A consortium that comprised Sid Grauman, Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford, and Louis B. Mayer provided the funding for it. It was finished for $2.5 million (about $39 million today) and inaugurated on May 15, 1927.

There are 63 suites among the 300 guest rooms at the 12-story hotel. It is located next to the TCL Chinese Theatre and across Hollywood Boulevard from a position on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The interior of the structure is decorated in a Spanish Colonial Revival Style with leather sofas, wrought-iron chandeliers, and vibrantly tiled fountains.

The 3,200 square foot duplex with an outside deck that offers views of the Hollywood Hills and the Hollywood sign is called the Gable-Lombard penthouse after Clark Gable and Carole Lombard, who used to book the space for $5 per night. The Marilyn Monroe room is named after the actress, who spent her formative years at the hotel for two years. King Superior suites and antique 1950s poolside cabanas are some further amenities.
