He has been the founder and organizer of the DevOps Enterprise Summit since 2014, researching the technological revolutions of large, complex businesses.
The Unicorn Project is a sequel to the Phoenix Project, told from the perspective of Maxine, a developer on the original Phoenix Project team. It tracks her journey as she implements DevOps basic principles to streamline essential operations. The book is among the best books on DevOps.
Follow Maxine, a senior lead developer and architect, as she is exiled to the Phoenix Project, much to the chagrin of her friends and coworkers, as punishment for her role in a payroll outage. She struggles to survive in what appears to be a ruthless and uncaring bureaucracy, working within a system in which no one can get anything done without interminable committees, paperwork, and approvals.
One day, she is contacted by a motley crew of misfits who claim to want to destroy the existing system, release developers, restore joy to technology work, and enable the firm to thrive in the face of digital upheaval. Surprisingly, she finds herself dragged deeper and deeper into this movement, eventually becoming one of the Rebellion's leaders, putting her in the sights of some familiar and very dangerous foes.
The Age of Software has arrived, and another global extinction disaster is on the horizon—this is a narrative about rebel developers and corporate leaders working together to create, survive, and prosper in a time of unprecedented uncertainty...and opportunity.
