Thomas Jefferson was closely supervised by George Wythe

After graduating, working as a law clerk at Wythe's office, he read the law under his guidance in order to become a lawyer. From 1769 to 1775, Jefferson served as a delegate for Albemarle County in the Virginia House of Burgesses. He immediately established a reputation for being a top attorney and rose to become one of the most in-demand attorneys in the state.
