“Under the Volcano” Festival
On January 16, 2010, the first famous Traditional Dance and Music Festival “Under the Volcano” was held at “Jungle Village”, Botanic Gardens, Limbe in Cameroon.
The “Under the Volcano” festival aims to bring all ages, ethnicities, and religions together in a fun outdoor event; to show the diversity of different cultures, and encourage people to nurture their traditional culture. In addition, this popular festival combines professional and amateur performers in one festival and shows everyone that their culture is appreciated; through filming and recording to introduce these cultures to the world to ultimately make the festival self-sustaining. A festival that echoes all of Africa's environments is present in Cameroon from deserts to savannas, rainforests to mountains.
