Universidad de La Habana
Universidad de La Habana is a university in Havana, Cuba's capital. It is located in the Vedado area. The institution, which was founded on January 5, 1728, is the oldest in Cuba and one of the first in the Americas (the oldest, National University of San Marcos, was founded in Lima in 1551). The University of Havana, which began as a religious institution, now comprises 15 faculties (colleges) on its Havana campus and distance learning facilities throughout Cuba.
The Universidad de la Habana, Cuba's top university, is ranked 51st in the QS Latin America University Rankings 2018, up from 59th the previous year. It was one of the first universities to be created in the Americas, having been founded in 1728 as a Catholic school. There are 16 faculties at the Universidad de la Habana, which provide programs in scientific sciences, social sciences, and humanities. There are now about 24,200 students enrolled.
