The University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) is one of Europe's premier hospitals and the city's major health center. The UKE, which was totally restored in 2009, provides diagnosis and treatment to its patients in one of Europe's most advanced medical facilities.
Annually, the UKE medical facility treats around 80.000 in-patients and 260.000 out-patients. Because of the recognized excellence of the center's personnel, equipment, and facilities, the medical center's services are becoming growing in demand among overseas patients.
As a university hospital, the UKE provides world-class professional knowledge in a wide range of areas. In the center's advanced facilities, specialists from several branches of medicine collaborate.
This collaborative environment permits the implementation of new research and cutting-edge treatments, allowing patients to get an extraordinarily high quality of care from initial diagnosis through post-treatment after-care.
Clinical diagnosis is aided by highly specialized laboratories and cutting-edge endoscopic and radiographic procedures. This interdisciplinary approach benefits patients in the center's 80 clinics dedicated to the treatment of difficult, uncommon, and chronic diseases such as cancer, blood disorders, cardiac rhythm abnormalities, endocrinological disorders, impaired eyesight, and TTTS syndrome.
In the region, the UKE is the sole provider of a wide range of complex surgical procedures that necessitate extensive experience and expertise, including transnasal pituitary gland removal, removal of brain tumors, surgical correction of neurogenic bladder or implantation of an electronic bladder stimulator, urethra stricture, EndoBarrier® Gastrointestinal Liner, and others.
Aside from the globally known medical skills of its physicians, nurses, and therapists, the UKE provides its patients with contemporary, patient-friendly architecture and great customer service.
To meet the requirements of overseas patients, the University Medical Center established the International Office, which is in charge of all enquiries from patients from other countries.
The department of Ophthalmology provides adults and children with the highest clinical and scientific level of diagnosis and treatment for all eye problems. Highly skilled experts from all fields of Ophthalmology collaborate together to provide the best possible patient treatment.
