Vanitas no Karte
An outcast among his own kind due to being born under a blue moon, Vanitas, the vampire, experienced rejection and isolation. Fueled by fear, he supposedly crafted a cursed grimoire, the "Book of Vanitas" (hence the anime title "Vanitas no Karte"), destined to bring vengeance upon vampires born under the crimson moon.
Fast forward to the 19th century in Paris, Noé Archiviste, the second main character in "Vanitas no Karte," seeks the legendary Book of Vanitas. His quest leads him to an airship, where he encounters Vanitas, an unusual doctor who claims to possess the sought-after tome. Ironically, this self-proclaimed expert on vampires is a mere human who inherited both his name and the book from his master, the original Vanitas of legend. With the emergence of the mysterious Charlatan's Parade, the doctor's unique ability to restore vampires' sanity by recovering their true names becomes a crucial asset.
The story of "Vanitas no Karte" exudes an exquisite blend of Victorian-era aesthetics and a captivating blend of supernatural elements - accompanied by a meticulously crafted backdrop of 19th-century Paris that provides a lush canvas for the narrative to unfold, juxtaposing grandiose Gothic architecture with a sense of foreboding mystery lurking in the shadows. Plus, the vibrant animation, coupled with a hauntingly beautiful musical score, heightens the series' emotional depth and intensifies peak moments to further attract us into its fantastical world.
