Waifu Labs
The website Waifu Labs was developed by Sizigi, Inc., a small group of MIT researchers and artists, and it allows users to design unique anime characters using artificial intelligence. Users can create an unlimited number of characters on Waifu Labs, which is free to use.
Users first choose a base image from a collection of more than 100,000 photographs before building a character. They can then alter the character's hair, eyes, skin, clothing, and other traits using the website's AI. The image of the character can also have words added to it, such as the character's name or a brief description.
Users have the option to share their newly created characters on social media or store them to their accounts. Additionally, customers can download their characters from Waifu Labs as GIFs or high-resolution photos.
Waifu Labs has gained popularity despite criticism for sexualizing anime characters. It now has over 1 million users, and it has been mentioned in outlets including The New York Times, The Verge, and Wired.
