Wella AG
Wella AG is a large German hair care company with its headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Founded in 1880 by Franz Ströher, specializing in hair care, hairstyling and coloring for individuals and hairdressers, sales for 2009-2019 were €86.2 million and controlled by Procter & Gamble from 2003 until it was sold to Coty, Inc. along with other P&G brands. The company originally made linen, which was used to make wigs. In 1890, he invented the Tullemoid waterproofing device, a technique that allows the scalp to breathe. In 1894 he opened his first factory in Rothenkirchen, Germany, and his children Karl and George Ströher joined the business soon after.
Wella is now a division of Procter & Gamble Corporation. Pure Naturals, Rich Naturals, Deep Browns, Special Blonde, and Special Mix are some of the different collections of hair color products available.
